The golden circle is a fantastic way to see some of our most famous attractions. We start by driving to the national park Þingvellir which is only a 40 minute drive from Reykjavík. In Þingvellir the Icelanders of yore held their parliament. It is known as the oldest parliament in the world, started in 930. It is also located in a rift valley between two tectonic plates.
After walking around in Þingvellir we drive to Geysir in Haukadal. Here we get to see wonderful geysers and geothermal activity.
From Geysir we drive to one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls, Gullfoss or Golden falls. Here we get to enjoy the raw power of mother nature up close an personal.
After seeing Gullfoss we stop at Skálholt which houses one of the most important church in Iceland. Here we can go into the old church and learn about it’s history.
